About Me

Hi, I’m Kate, the maker behind KG Handmade.

Based in vibrant Bristol, I share my home with my family and our lovable Labrador, Ludo, who loves keeping me company while I work.

My crochet journey began during lockdown as a way to find some calm and colour. It didn't take long for that first simple project to turn into a passion for sustainable crafting. I love reducing waste, so creating beautiful things out of recycled yarns is at the very heart of what I do.

From practical bumbags to lacy scarves, everything here is handmade by me with slow fashion and sustainability in mind.

From humble beginnings

My Vision

KG Handmade was established in 2020, born out of a desire to create eco - friendly crochet accessories. What started with simple, reusable facial scrubbies took an exciting turn when our lively puppy, Ludo, joined the family. Needing to keep my hands free on dog walks, I designed our signature bumbag - which quickly became a customer favourite alongside our crossbody bags.

As my love for the craft grew, I transitioned from thick, sturdy cords to the delicate beauty of fine cotton, adding elegant triangular shawls and scarves to the collection. Sharing this journey on Instagram connected me with a wonderful community and inspired me to start selling at local markets.

Looking ahead, my vision is to expand into workshops, encouraging others to step away from their screens and experience the mindful joy of crochet.
